PEAK CHARGE POWER DESK

The Peak Charge power desk is a portable workstation that provides users power and a solid surface to be productive wherever they go.

Our power desk placed first in the ITLL design expo at CU Boulder in business development and product innovation.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Peak Charge was founded after several members of the team noticed students studying in some of the most unusual and inconvenient locations all over the CU Boulder campus. The concept of the PowerDesk was formed with the goal of alleviating the discomfort observed in those students. .

USER INTERVIEWS

During our customer discovery period we wanted to identify the pain point students faced when finding a space to work. We surveyed and interviewed 275 people, some questions we asked included:

  • Where is your favorite place to work/why?

  • What resources/environment do you need to be productive?

  • What issues do you face where you study?

PROTOTYPES

Our initial prototype helped us understand the size we wanted so that it would easily fit into a work bag or backpack. It also helped us layout the different types of ports and ventilation that the product would need. This prototype was created in illustrator, and brought to life by using a laser cutter, poster-board and hot glue.

FINAL PROTOTYPE

Our final prototype included an AC power converter to allow the use of a three prong outlet. We designed this model in illustrator, and utilized a laser cutter, acrylic, and acrylic bond to make the final prototype.

PITCH

I designed the poster we used at the ITLL design expo to reflect the branding I created for the product. I wanted our brand to cohesively tie our product offering with the issue we sought out to solve. The poster was designed to allow our investors to understand our business plan simply by looking through it.
